Uso del software estadístico Minitab como apoyo para la resolución de problemas, análisis de datos, autoevaluación y discusión de resultados en la educación a distancia

Every year, more students join engineering careers. In addition, higher education has diversified teaching processes with the use of technology, offering hybrid subjects, innovating in the design of teaching materials, using Learning Management System (LMS) platforms and at the same time promoting the periodic training of teachers. The Universidad Estatal a Distancia ventures into the opening of new careers under its model of distance education, in an effort to position itself in the training of engineers in the country, such is the case of the Industrial Engineering career that was born in 2015. The Chair of Quality Management has reinforced the teaching-learning processes with the use of statistical software Minitab during the period 2016 – 2017 in subjects that use statistics as a tool for solving problems. This research is carried out from the Chair and links to the Programa de Producción de Material Escrito (Promade) de la Dirección de Producción de Materiales Didácticos (DPMD) in order to describe the way in which the use of the statistical software Minitab supported with didactic materials for the thematic statistical approach in the subjects. Among the results, students’ perceptions of software usability, digital skills, applicability for problem solving, analysis of results and student self-evaluation are concluded.
