About Us

Digital Universities: International Best Practices and Applications is an international and interdisciplinary open access journal published by GUIDE – Global Universities in Distance Education, a worldwide association sponsored by Marconi University of Rome, Italy.

The journal deals with issues of international relevance by privileging case studies and applied researches which mainly relate to four specific research topics, namely pedagogy, science, technology and business. In this perspective, the new publication aims at providing a new space for the exchange of knowledge among international experts and practitioners.

Digital Universities: International Best Practices and Applications welcomes empirical and theoretical papers showing a high level of scientific quality and that are able to bring a significant added value to the international research community debate.

Call for papers

The journal publishes scholarly empirical, theoretical, and review articles dealing with online education specifically cases, best practices and applications related to different areas such as business, technology and science and pedagogy.

Original Manuscripts suitable for publication in the journal cover the following areas:

  • Training in and for Higher education;
  • Science, Technology and Research;
  • Teaching methods for Research Training;
  • Methodology for Vocational training;
  • Quality Assurance.

Prof.ssa Alessandra Briganti

Chancellor of Marconi University where she is also Full Professor of Italian literature and arts . Previously she was Full Professor of Italian Modern and Contemporary Literature at La Sapienza University of Rome and Full Professor of Mass Communication Theory at the Oriental University Institute of Naples. She is author of several scientific publications in the following research fields: higher education counseling; strategies for effective teaching of different disciplines delivered in distance modality; E-learning, lifelong and performative learning.

Prof. Kumiko Aoki

Professor at the Center of ICT and Distance Education -The Open University of Japan, Japan.She obtained her Ph.D. in Communication and Information Sciences from the University of Hawaii. She taught at the Rochester Institute of Technology, U.S.A., and Boston University, U.S.A. before she returned to Japan in 2004. Since January 2004, she has been a researcher at the National Institute of Multimedia Education, which was merged with the Open University of Japan in April 2009. Her research interests include learning designs, quality assurance of distance education, student-centered learning, and international distance education.

Prof. Krysztof Gurba

Director of the Institute for Research on Civilizations and Vice-Director of the Institute of Journalism and Social Communication – Pontifical University of John Paul II, Poland.Professor of Computer Science and Philosophy. Academic teacher since 1986 at Medical Academy, Pedagogical Academy, the Jagiellonian University. Since 2003 Dean and Associated Professor at the Tischner European University, Department of Applied Social Sciences. Teaches also journalism at Technical and Management University in Rzeszow and the Pontifical Academy of Theology in Cracow. Now Responsible for e-Learning at the Tischner European University.

Prof. Minor Herrera

Chancellor of Panamerican University of Guatemala and Professor of the Faculty of Theology, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Theology, a Master’s degree in Pastoral Theology, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Social Sciences. In 2007 he was nominated Administrative Vice Chancellor of Panamerican University, becoming Chancellor in 2010. Prof. Herrera is a member of the Forum of Chancellors of Guatemala and a National Director of Word College.

Prof. Catherine Ngugi

Project Director – OER Africa, Kenya. She established the AVU Research & Innovation Facility (RIF) in January 2005 and managed it until September 2007. She holds an MA from the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies and is a Rockefeller Associate of the African Gender Institute, University of Cape Town. She has experience in both the private and the public sector, in Anglophone and Francophone Africa.

Prof. Mustafa Nasereddin

Senior Executive Director – Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org), Jordan. In addition to his management and leadership responsibilities, Mr. Nasereddin is the International Relations Director for the Organization representing the Group in various forums and institutions. Mr. Nasereddin, a holder of a Masters degree in Computer Engineering, joined Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization in 1999, he is equipped with 37 years of cross-cultural and cross-industry experience as an engineer, business developer, communicator, mentor and entrepreneur. Mr. Nasereddin solid experience allowed him to become a powerhouse to be reckoned with in business development, information technology, education, and microfinance.

Prof. Marco Rimanelli

Full Professor – Saint Leo University, U.S.A. Professor Rimanelli holds 7 degrees and has published 7 books. Since January 1993, he works at the Saint Leo University, where he is Full-Professor in European Affairs/International Security & U.S. Diplomacy, and was Director of International Studies, Director of the Center InterAmerican & World Studies and Director of the European Summer Study-Abroad. Currently, he is the only winner of the 2013-14 Fulbright-Schuman Chair on U.S.-E.U.-NATO Security at the E.U.’s graduate College of Europe-Bruges in Belgium.

Prof. Jucimara Roesler

Jucimara Roesler holds a Bachelor’s degree in Pedagogy from the University of West of  Santa Catarina en 1993 and various specialization in: Education Management and Development, Educational Technologies from UNOESC/PUC and University’s Management and Leadership from UNISUL – Universidade do Sul da Santa Caterina.
